We come across magazines, TV shows, and pictures of the most "beautiful" people, and wonder.. why cant I look like them?
Dove made a commercial, where they took a girl and did a photo shoot just of her face.
In the beginning, she was just an average looking person with imperfections here and there.
They did her hair, and an hours worth of makeup on her face.
Found the best picture, then did even more work, from: lengthening her neck, made her eyes and lips bigger, made it look like she had never had a wrinkle on her face.
She didn't look like herself at all.
And at the end of the video they said, "no wonder our perception of beauty is distorted"
Today I struggle with imperfections and practically every day, I look in the mirror and criticise every little thing that may be wrong with me.
I think people aren't looking at me, and I always think of myself as....not beautiful.
MY FLAWS:
I Breakout when I'm stressed
My teeth aren't straight
My skin scars easily
I don't like my eye color
My lips aren't big enough
I gained a pound
My face is oily
my hair isn't thick and I want it longer
I hate my feet
Oh why can't I be perfect like that
My thighs may look too big in those jeans
This, hate that, don't what that.
The list goes on.
But I fail to look at the good things I'm blessed with.
Kellie Ann Duckett, you are beautiful.
And so is every other person out there.
